Target raises GI Joe prices…booo

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

The GI Joe Rise of Cobra 1/18 scale figures have gone up a dollar at Target. They were previously $6.99 (as of 2 weeks ago) in the Ithaca and Elmira NY stores. As of this writing, they’re priced at $7.99 each. They’re still a better deal than the Marvel Universe figures in the same scale at the same price. Hasbro may have increased the price based on the success of the lesser equipped Marvel figures at that price point.

It still stinks though… I had 4 more figures in hand today until I noticed the hike in price. At over 8 bucks a pop I decided I’d protest and buy none of them. There’s no reason they should cost so much.

The histories and stories of each group however are separate. There are some similarities, but it doesn’t appear to be a connection to the previous series so much as a rewrite of the previous history. Sigma 6 in toy form also varies greatly from the RAH line in the fact that the figures are 8 inches tall instead of slightly less than 4.
