FAQ
Q – Why do the images look funny and why do borders look odd?
A – This site works best in a standards compliant browser such as Firefox. Internet Explorer 7 and 8 have not been tested and IE6 has some formatting issues as well as problems handling transparency of images. Use a real browser. Avoid using Internet Explorer in any way, shape, or form. It’s broken and will probably always be broken.
Q – Is there a membership fee for registering here? If not, how can you keep the site free with no ads?
A – Through the generosity of RangerSheck at Aethora.com, IOT is free to use.
Q – Is there a section for adult-oriented figures or modifications?
A – Not at this time. There are other forums out there that will accommodate your interests though. Try some searching on Google and I think you’ll find several.
Q – I was registered on the old site. Why aren’t all my posts here?
A – The old site used different software and there was no easy conversion available. However, the old site still exists at http://islandoftoys.com/oldisland, so you can copy posts from there and repost to this forum. None of your old content has been deleted.
Q – What’s with the Playmobil and Fisher-Price kiddie toys on the same site as high end Hot Toys and Medicom figures?!?!
A – Despite what some people think, they’re all JUST TOYS. Just because something is more expensive, doesn’t make it any less of a toy. Just because something is super cheap, doesn’t make it any less fun.
Q – Why not make a site dedicated to a specific type of toy or a specific scale?
A – Because there’s already a ton of them. I like so many different types of toys, it got hard to keep up with all the separate forums for the various stuff I collect. There are other people who collect a lot of different types of toys and this site is also for them. We scatterbrains need to stick together! Thus, IOT was born in August 2007.
Q – I work for a company that makes toys. Can I send you something and have you write a review?
A – I typically only review what I buy myself, but hey I’m not against someone sending me free toys, books, movies, cars, jet packs, rayguns, uhhh…what were we talking about? Oh yeah. If anyone sends me something, they should make sure they feel GOOD about what they send. ‘Free stuff’ doesn’t automatically mean a good review.
Q – Why do you hate (insert company here)?
A – I don’t “hate” any toy companies. It’s a misconception that when you point out flaws in a product that many fan boys rave over that for some reason you “hate” the company that made it. The idea is absurd. I own/buy toys from countless manufacturers. I’d go so far as to say, I have never NOT complained about something from any of them. This means that they are all flawed at one point in time or another. No company is immune to criticism from me. Ever.
Q – Why is this FAQ so darn long?
A – It’s not. Actually you should be getting close to the end of th…
