Toys to withstand the test of time

Are there any NEW toys out there that you feel withstand the test of time? What about toys you had as a kid? Any of those still give you the warm fuzzy feelings when you look at them?

When I talk about toys withstanding the test of time, I’m talking not only about the durability of the toy, but also its subject matter, and possibly its style. As with cars, clothing, shoes, houses, and pretty much anything, there’s a certain “style” relevant to the time period. Some things fade out of style, but might come back later. I suppose this is the case with toys as well.

Worst action figure maker?

If you had a choice to nominate the worst action figure company out there, who would it be? There’s some really great stuff currently being produced in larger scales (12″ and 18″) as well as in the smaller scales (4″ and 6″). One of the standouts is the new Mezco 18″ Hellboy 2 figure. He’s awesome whether or not you’re even into that scale. The level of detail is great.

In my last review of a Sigma 6 figure, I covered one of the good guys on the GI Joe team, Lt. Stone. Well you can’t have good guys without bad guys right? They’d be terribly bored, don’t you think?

Hasbro – Sigma 6 – Lt. Stone

Most would consider Sigma 6 a spin-off of the GI Joe “Real American Hero” line. Many characters appear in both incarnations of the GI Joe team. The histories and stories of each group however are separate. There are some similarities, but it doesn’t appear to be a connection to the previous series so much as a rewrite of the previous history. Sigma 6 in toy form also varies greatly from the RAH line in the fact that the figures are 8 inches tall instead of slightly less than 4.
